Dan and Mary Sue Reed

Dan and Mary Sue Reed

Dan, Mary Sue, and their three children lived in Muskegon, MI,

where they were very active in the Muskegon Berean Church prior to their departure for Bolivia in January 2006. Dan was raised in a pastor's family. His parents, Dwight and Jane Reed, have served in several Grace Gospel Fellowship (GGF) churches, and his grandfather, Hal Reed, was also a GGF pastor for many years. Mary Sue was born and raised on the mission field in Japan. Her parents, Dick and Phyllis Robart, served in Japan for over 20 years with Grace Missions (now Grace Ministries International). Mary Sue had a very positive experience as a missionary kid and always thought she would be in some sort of ministry as an adult.

After finishing high school in Southern California, Dan decided to attend Grace Bible College (GBC) in Grand Rapids, Michigan. During his time there he took part in a ten-week student missions trip to Africa under the direction of Sam Vinton, Jr. and Bill Bunch. Dan graduated from GBC with a Bachelor of Theology Degree in Pastoral Ministry. The following fall he was called to be the Pastor of Education and Outreach at the Holland Berean Bible Church. Mary Sue attended Christian Heritage College in El Cajon, CA. They were married on January 3, 1987. After four years of ministry in Holland, Dan was called to be the pastor of Grace Gospel Church in Ada, OH. All three of their children -- Taylor, Trevor, and Tasha -- were born there. In January 2000, Dan was able to be part of a two-week pastoral team to Bolivia through Church Missions Link. He spent time with Jerry and DeAnna Olson (Dan's sister) and saw firsthand the ongoing mission work they are involved in.

After completing 12 years of ministry in Ada, Ohio, their move to Muskegon, MI, allowed their family to be close to Dan's parents for the first time. While in Muskegon, Dan worked in the medical respiratory field. Mary Sue worked part time in the local school district. In July 2002, Mary Sue went to Bolivia on a two-week missions trip with another lady from church. After hearing Dan talk about his experience there, it was very special for Mary Sue to have the opportunity to visit Bolivia also.

Dan and Mary Sue have always been open to missions, but never felt led in that direction until recently. They knew the Lord would lead them back into some area of ministry eventually. After Dan spent some time talking with Jerry and DeAnna Olson, he really started feeling a burden on his heart for the need in Bolivia. They always knew there was a need, but God really began laying that burden on their hearts. They, along with their children, are very excited about being part of the GMI team and pursuing their calling to the Bolivian mission field.
