Partnership with Book of Hope - Book of Hope is a Christ-centered organization with headquarters in Pompano, Florida, whose goal is to get God's Word to every child in the world. On June 12, ten-year-old James received the 500 millionth "Book of Hope" Gospel booklet at his school in Columbia. Last month Bill and Sue Vinton and Don Ten Hoeve met with the leaders of Book of Hope regarding the possibility of working together to place a copy of a Book of Hope in the hand of each of the 40,000 students in the primary and secondary schools of our Grace Churches in Congo. We found that the leadership of Book of Hope had been praying for the Congo during the past three years. PTL for their commitment to ship 20,000 copies of the Book of Hope in Swahili and 10,000 in French. Pray that these booklets will arrive in Bukavu by the end of January 2009. Pray also for Bill Vinton as he flies to Kama on October 6 to train 50 school administrators and 20 evangelists on reaching these students with the Gospel. Nine men have been chosen to lead this new thrust. A goal has been set to bring 1,000 to Christ during this new school year. PRAY.
Bill Vinton in Congo - Bill Vinton arrived in Bukavu, Congo, on September 13. Sue is remaining in the States for another six weeks to help her mother, Marilyn Caraway, who is in rehab after a serious head injury from a fall. Please pray for Marilyn that she will fully recover. Pray for Bill and Sue as they begin their 26th year as GMI missionaries.
Outreach into Nicaragua - PTL for the missions trip to Nicaragua in August made by 12 members of our church in Costa Rica, along with Joy Befus and Jeremy Clark. Through contacts in Nicaragua they were able to hold many meetings in schools, parks, and homes, as well as witnessing to many individuals. PTL for at least six adults who were led to a saving knowledge of Christ, as well as close to 100 children. PTL for the open doors for the Gospel and open hearts to the Gospel. Please pray that the Lord will open the door to the exact place where our team from Costa Rica can begin a permanent ministry in that country.
Lloyds in Zambia - Praise the Lord for the safe arrival of Titus and Kristy Lloyd and their two sons in Zambia. They arrived with all of their luggage and had no problems with immigration or customs. Please pray for them as they now adjust to living in a new country and as they begin their ministries in Kabwe.
Australia Update - Please remember Andy and Jeneane Hollier on October 4 as they have the opportunity to hand out New Testaments at Hornsby Plaza. Pray the Lord will bring people to their table.
News from Bolivia - Talo Vergara and three of the youth from two of our churches went to Costa Rica this summer where they had the privilege of working on the church building, sharing their testimonies, and ministering the Word. PTL for the impact this ministry experience has had on the three young people from Bolivia.
Update from Uruguay - Ricki Anne writes that they are celebrating the Lord's working and provision in their cell groups. On October 1 one of their groups will be multiplying and allowing them to move out into another neighborhood where a few members of their church are presently living. Please pray for God’s continued provision for the ministries in Uruguay.
Update from the Bentons - PTL that the building for the dormitory at Kapenta will be completed shortly. The 4-ton truck continues to haul stones, sand, and bricks every day for the various projects taking place. Mike and Terese are grateful for all those who have a part in their ministries. Please also pray that their container which has arrived in Tanzania can be cleared and delivered with minimal problems.
Update from Brook Seekins - Thanks to all of you who have been praying for Brook after she had a serious car accident in Tanzania. Thanks also for those who helped financially. PTL that the accident case has been closed. PTL for the good news from Brook that the national leaders she has trained ran three marriage camps this past summer. PTL for the two unsaved spouses who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ at one of the camps. Brook wants you to join her in thanking Him for the national leaders who led the marriage camps and for all who attended. Pray that the truth taught will be put into practice.
Puerto Rico News - Barbara Trumbower reports: "In the last several months, we have had two more churches begin programming on WCGB, filling the available spaces in our live morning block." Please continue to pray for WCGB and the entire Rock Radio Network in Puerto Rico.
