As we enter this wonderful season of the year, we do so with great joy! - This joy is based not on festivities, gifts, and food, but on the marvelous love that God abundantly manifested in giving His one and only Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. By coming into the world over 2000 years ago, the Lord Jesus, who was rich became poor for the sake of those who were poverty stricken -- you and me -- so that we might become rich! No wonder the Apostle Paul sings his praises to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ for blessing us with every spiritual blessing in Christ. The announcement of "good news of great joy" by the angel to the shepherds on that first Christmas eve is still "good news of great joy" today. Praise the Lord that this wonderful message of salvation that brings great joy is the one our missionaries are preaching around the world. Pray that our missionaries will enter the many doors that the Lord opens for them during this Christmas season and share the "good news of great joy." From all of us at the GMI home office, we wish you the Lord’s very best as you rejoice in the "good news of great joy." -- Sam Vinton, Jr.
Ten Hoeves in South America - PTL for the good ministries that Don and Sandy Ten Hoeve had in Bolivia in mid-November. From Bolivia they flew to Uruguay. On their stopover in Paraguay, they were able to visit with a man who was led to the Lord in a Florida prison by our brother, Robert Brock. As this issue goes to press, Don and Sandy are in Uruguay and will return to Grand Rapids the first week of December.
Work Teams to Puerto Rico - Jon Marshall asks us to pray for the numerous work teams (at least 15) that will be going to help in various projects and ministries at the camp. PTL that Mike and Megin (Ten Hoeve) Stearns have been accepted to serve for one year with the Marshalls in Puerto Rico. The focus of their ministry will be with the work teams. We are trusting the Lord to have their support raised so they can begin their work in February.
Rabenolds Back in Tanzania - PTL for the safe flight that Ted, Kim, and Savannah Rabenold had back to Tanzania November 18-20. Their daughter, Sierra, met them in Dar-es-Salaam two days later when she arrived for her Christmas break from Rift Valley Academy. PTL for the good reports of how well the work in the Rukwa Valley has continued during the absence of the Rabenolds. PTL for the carpentry and sewing students who recently graduated from the Vo-Tech school in Kapenta. Please pray for Ted and Kim's son, Colton, who is attending college in the States and will be spending his first Christmas away from home.
Prayer Request from Bolivia - The following prayer request has been received from Jerry Olson: "Pray for Pastor Adalid and his wife Rubid. Adalid, over the past 30 years, has pastored several of our churches here in Santa Cruz and has been a member of our national leadership council. Two weeks ago he had a heart attack. He is recuperating well but we would appreciate your prayers for him and his family."
Uruguay Update - PTL for the three students (Gusty, Shaggy, and Beatrice) from our Montevideo Church who graduated on November 29 from Bible College. Continue to pray for Ricki Anne Zanella as she looks for a reasonably priced rental in Montevideo. Pray also for Aimee Johnson as she finishes up deputation with the goal of being in Uruguay in early January, God willing.
Urgent Prayer Request from India - Please join Subash and Sandra Muthyala and their fellow believers in the Hyderabad area in prayer regarding the place of worship for the church and office which the owner wants them to vacate. It is very difficult to find someone willing to rent them a place so they can freely worship the Lord Jesus Christ. Many refuse to rent to Christian organizations. But in spite of this, praise the Lord for a special open air "Musical Nite" put on by the worship team of the Berean Bible Church of Hyderabad in a community 20 kms from the church. This evangelistic outreach drew over 150 people who heard the Gospel. The following Sunday, November 11, the village church on the outskirts of Hyderabad, as well as the Berean Bible Church, held their annual day of gratitude with an open air meeting where many non-church people attended. Please pray for the Holy Spirit to use the Word of God to bring to faith those who heard the Gospel for the first time.
Evangelistic Training in Congo - Please pray for Fred Vinton as he teaches the church members of the Kipaka Church to understand the Gospel so they can share it with their friends and neighbors. Please pray for wisdom and a good explanation of biblical terms in Swahili to those who have very little education and whose biblical knowledge is limited. PTL for the Holy Spirit’s work of illumination that we can count on!
