Congratulations to our MKs - Congratulations to the following MKs: Danae Olson who graduates from the Santa Cruz Learning Center (high school) in Bolivia on May 30; Rachel Vinton who graduates from Grace Bible College (BRE) and from Cornerstone University with a secondary education teaching degree (both on May 10); and Elizabeth Meier who will graduate on May 17 from Moody Bible Institute. Pray for them as they take the next step in their lives.
Salvation in Cameroon - PTL for 15 individuals who made professions of faith in the Lord Jesus at Muyenge, Cameroon, during an evangelistic crusade. The grade school started in Kumba has entered into the third term of its first school year. Pray that each student in the school will believe on the Lord Jesus as his or her Savior.
Congo Report - Sue Vinton reports that seven children received the Lord Jesus as Savior on Easter Sunday in her children’s class. She was able to hold a four-day literacy tutor seminar for three men working with street boys and two others who work in a poor, underdeveloped neighborhood just outside of Bukavu. PTL that Bill was able to spend two weeks at Kindu Bible College teaching two courses and eight days at Kama in April meeting with many of the pastors and church department heads from the whole area, as well as holding a four-day seminar on spiritual leadership. Plane service in Congo is very problematic these days so we praise the Lord for His provision of good flights to Kindu and Kama.
50th Anniversary in the Philippines - PTL for the great celebration that took place in the Philippines April 22-26. Fifty years ago Vernon and Darlene Anderson and Joe and Pauline Watkins began the work of Things to Come Mission in the Philippines which God has tremendously blessed. Today there are over 500 churches and five training schools for pastors and church workers. The national church leaders are carrying on a great ministry built on the solid foundation established many years ago. What a joy it was for the Andersons and Watkins to be part of this great celebration of God’s goodness and faithfulness. The president of the GMI board of directors, Pastor Charley Young, with his wife, Jan, represented GMI on this wonderful occasion.
Rejoice in the following email received from Pastor Young: "Things are going very well here at the conference in Ozamis. It is overwhelming to see the extent of the work here. It has been a blessing to see the honor that is being given to the pioneer missionaries and the glory being given to God. There were over 1500 delegates in attendance at the opening ceremony which included about five minutes of fireworks! It was really some production!"
News from Tanzania - Please pray for Chad Zuber as he works with the believers from our churches to build a high school in Sumbawanga. Mike Benton asks us to pray for coaches for the soccer/Bible clubs he is helping get started. A letter was recently sent to all our churches asking for our youth department leaders to recommend godly young men who will be willing to work with young boys in their villages. Please keep Najua in your prayers as well. He is the young man helping to organize the clubs. In June, Najua will be a member of a team from Tanzania traveling to Sweden for a soccer tournament. Pray that through this ministry many will come to a saving knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Update from Uruguay - Ricki Anne Zanella writes: "We would appreciate your prayers for the first Women's Retreat to be held in May. Many women here work as many if not more hours than women in the States, so we would appreciate your prayers that God would open this window of time set apart to deepen our relationships with God and with each other." Aimee Johnson reports that AWANA has started, both at the church in Montevideo and in the suburb of La Teja, with over 30 children in attendance at each location. PTL for the opportunity of reaching these children with the Gospel of Christ.
Costa Rica Bible Institute - Please pray for Jeremy Clark and Chuck Befus and their Costa Rican colleagues as they teach 40 students in the Bible Institute. Pray especially for Jeremy and a team of 13 who will be going to Nicaragua for a missions trip later this summer.
Work Teams in Puerto Rico - We are thankful to the Lord for the work teams that have already been in Puerto Rico and those who will continue to come through the summer (20 teams) to help in the building projects at the camp. Pray especially for Mike and Megin Stearns who are hosting and working with the teams.
Ministry in Zambia - Tim and Debbe Meier are thankful to the Lord for the team from the States who worked with them in March on VBS, seminars, visitation, children's meetings, and preaching. Thanks especially to Jim and Linnae Knoll from the Bethesda Church in Minneapolis who led the team.
